Module 2 - Medical Surge Resources

OBJECTIVES:   -  Upon completion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

· List two local resources allocated for medical response.

· Identify deployment times and methods of local medical response teams.

· List three State and regional medical response resources.

· Identify deployment methods for state and Regional teams.

· Compare and contrast the functions of State and Regional teams.

· List the four Federal response resources.

· Identify deployment methods and time frames.

· Describe the team composition of one local, State and Federal response team.

· Describe the Strategic National Stockpiles’ purpose and deployment.

· Identify one delivery method of Medical Surge Resources based on the six Blooms Taxonomy.

Module 3 - Alternate Care Facilities

OBJECTIVES:  -  Upon completion of this activity, the learner should be able to:

· Define the mission of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS).

· List medications contained in the SNS.

· Describe Receiving Sites and compare them to Distribution sites.

· Discuss the roles of the Senior Medical Officer and the Local Hospital Representative.

· Compare and contrast the roles of representatives from: Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health Regional Surveillance Teams, Law enforcement, Regional Advisory Committee, and Special Teams.

· List three indications for the request of the SNS.

· Identify types of pharmaceuticals by color codes assigned to them.

· List the three controlled substances maintained in the SNS 12 hour push pack.

· Identify situations where the SNS may be diverted to hospitals for use.

· List three special needs populations that may be assisted by the drug distribution staff.

· Discuss the equipment requirement by the Triage Function Leader.

· Define the role of the Educator in the Drug Distribution Site.

· List critical equipment utilized by the Educator role.

· Identify the role of the Registration Technician.

· Identify five critical tasks of the Dispenser role at the Drug Distribution Site.
